Marcia Gay Harden Filmography (April

We
at The Toast have been big fans of the very talented Marcia
Gay Harden since we first saw her in the little 1991 science
fiction movie Late For Dinner.
She was marvelous in playing a young wife in her early 20s and the
same woman 30 years later. We were absolutely beside ourselves with
pleasure when she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress
in the film bio Pollock
(2000)!
We don’t watch broadcast TV much but
starting in the fall of 2001 we did watch CBS on
Sunday nights. In the series The
Education of Max Bickford, Ms Harden plays a
history professor at a prestigious Eastern college and the former
student of Max (Richard Dreyfuss), another teacher and the head
of her History Department. The reviews have been enthusiastic and The
Toast heartily agrees!
Update 2002: Well, enthusiastic reviews and The
Toast’s hearty endorsement does not a successful TV series make.
It seems Max got educated and maybe cancelled and perhaps we’ll all
have to move on. It was a good show, honest – but after the first
three or four episodes, we found ourselves watching just to catch a
glance of Ms Harden.
